TIL That we're not exactly sure where the idiom 'It's raining cats and dogs' comes from. There are a few theories ranging from cats and dogs being washed away from roofs during storms, an old English word 'Catadupe' which meant a cataract or waterfall, to having roots in Norse mythology.
